The final report from five years of research on the project ICE-BREAKER: Reducing the agronomic and economic impact of ice damage on golf courses and other grasslands has been published by the Scandinavian Turfgrass and Environment Research Foundation. The ICE-BREAKER project aimed to better understand and improve strategies to prevent and mitigate damage caused by prolonged ice cover (Figure 1) and meltwater on golf courses and other grasslands.

We also recently revised our Spring stresses: The difficult transition into a new growing season fact sheet, which discusses the latest in winterkill causes and recovery.

The Scandinavian team would like to thank our U.S. partners, Eric Watkins, University of Minnesota and Michelle DaCosta, University of Massachusetts, for their great contributions to this project. We are very pleased to continue and extend this collaboration in WinterTurf and future projects.
